Rob Banks began his law enforcement career in 1997 and is currently working for the Oxford, MS Police Department. Rob is assigned as the Director of Training for Impaired Driving Enforcement (TIDE) for the State of Mississippi. Rob currently serves as the MS State Coordinator for the DRE and SFST training programs. Rob has been an SFST instructor since 2005 and later became an Instructor in ARIDE and DRE in 2009. Rob has been in Law Enforcement for 22 years with 14 years of that focused on traffic / DUI enforcement. Rob is also serving his second elected term of Carroll County Second District Constable.
Rob began his career focus on traffic enforcement in 2002 when he was assigned to the Greenwood Police Department traffic Division. Rob was assigned to the DUI unit in 2004 where he coordinated the DUI program for GPD. He has attended numerous traffic and DUI related law enforcement classes since becoming an instructor. Rob has attended numerous conferences and other traffic related training classes including accident reconstruction. Rob attended Drug Recognition Expert training in September of 2008 and later completed the course requirements and a final knowledge exam to become a certified Drug Recognition Expert on February 5, 2009. Rob has made more than 1500 DUI arrests to date.
Other than traffic experience, Rob has attended several SWAT classes and once served as the SWAT commander for the Greenwood Police Department. Rob is a firearms instructor and also teaches the concealed carry firearms class to civilians. Rob serves on several committees and boards. He is currently the board chairman for S.T.O.R.M. (Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi). He was previously the board chairman for MAHSL (Mississippi Association of Highway Safety Leaders) and previously the chapter president for the MS Police Benevolent Association.
