Wilson Wielgosz began his law enforcement career in 2014 and is currently working for the Oxford Police Department. Wilson is assigned as a Training Officer with Training for Impaired Driving Enforcement (TIDE) for the State of Mississippi. Wilson has been a SFST Instructor since February 2018. Wilson went on to become an ARIDE and DRE Instructor in January 2019.
Wilson began his career in law enforcement with the Ridgeland Police Department. While there, he was assigned to the traffic division and began his focus on DUI enforcement. Wilson was assigned to the nighttime traffic unit in 2016 where he coordinated the DUI program for Ridgeland PD until starting at Oxford PD.
Wilson has attended numerous traffic and DUI related law enforcement classes which led to him becoming an instructor in the field. Wilson has attended multiple conferences and has made more than 350 DUI arrests to date.
Wilson has received multiple awards from the State of Mississippi. These awards included DUI Club awards in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He has also received a Buckle for Life award in 2017. Wilson is the
current Central Region Vice President of S.T.O.R.M. Wilson has spoken to high schools and other organizations about traffic safety awareness, traffic laws, and alcohol/drug impaired driving.
